Employee Spotlight: Susan Bali

This month we shine the light on Susan Bali, our Marketing Manager. Susan was born and raised in Toronto, although she did live in Montreal for 4 years while attending McGill University. Prior to working at Rimrock, Susan worked in the industry as a Marketing Associate at Canada-wide Contracting. Before that, she worked for RBC Dominion Securities.

In her spare time, Susan loves being active. She enjoys hiking with friends and family, swimming, biking and jogging. Susan also loves exploring Toronto and finding new places to eat and walk around.  If there is any time left over, she tries to do something creative like dancing, painting, or drawing.

What do you love most about working at FB & how long have you been here? I’ve been here for just over a month now. I obviously love the people here. I love how dynamic the role is. There’s always a new problem to solve, and that keeps things interesting.

What is your favorite place that you have visited and where is your next dream vacation spot? It’s hard to pick one place. Visiting the Italian Coast (Sorrento and Capri) and Monaco, were out-of-this-world experiences for me. I went to Hawaii a few years ago, and I think that was my favourite place. The people there, their laidback, island culture, and the amazing sites and activities, make it my favourite spot to visit. I would eventually love to visit the Greek Islands, Portugal, and Morocco.

What TV shows/music/apps/Podcasts are you currently obsessed with right now? I love the OneNote app on my phone! I love how it links to the OneNote notebook on my desktop, so I can update my notes if I think of anything when I’m not at my computer. The Carrot app is also fun- you earn Scene points by taking steps.

I’m just getting back into Podcasts, but I’ve been watching a lot of interviews with Scooter Braun. He’s a powerhouse in the entertainment industry, yet so humble.  He’s famous for being Justin Bieber’s manager, but he’s really an excellent businessman who I think people can learn a lot from.

The last TV show that I watched was Fauda. I highly recommend it!

If you could have a drink with anyone (fictional, alive, dead, famous, non-famous) who would it be and why? It’s hard to pick just one person! I would love to have a drink with Elon Musk or Jacqueline Kennedy. He’s such a visionary and I would love to pick his brain. She was such a larger-than-life figure in her own right, and I would love to hear about her time in the White House.

Tell us a “fun fact” about yourself or your “secret talent” that your colleagues might not already know.

I won a photography contest when I was 14 years old. Me and ten other teenagers from Toronto were awarded a free two-week trip to Milan to photograph the city and connect with ten teenagers from Milan. It was the most interesting trip I’ve ever taken because it was so out of my comfort zone.
