Sometimes viewing things in a different way can be both beneficial and productive. That is where the FIELDBOSS Map View on our Mobile App comes in. By default, when a technician first opens their assigned Service Activities, they’ll appear in a List View sorted in chronological order by date and time. This view style certainly has a time and a place, but they also have the flexibility to change the way they view these Service Activities, either to our Map View or Calendar View.
Benefits of Map View
When the Map View is first opened, it will utilize the GPS on the device the technician is using to quickly and easily determine exactly where they are.
The FIELDBOSS Map View looks very similar to that of the more popular navigation apps like Google Maps or Apple Maps. The technicians are able zoom in/out and pan while viewing their current location and what Service Activities are around them.
While in Map View the technician can still change the type of Service Activities they are viewing such as Maintenance, Non-Maintenance, Completed, etc. They also have the ability to select any of the Service Activities that appear on the Map, and it will open so they can Clock In and begin travelling there.
If their dispatch allows for it, the technician can view all their assigned Service Activities, determine which they’re closest to, and travel there instead of one that was further away but scheduled for sooner in the day. This can be especially useful if their main duties are completing Maintenance work. They can easily plan their days route by selecting several Service Activities that are close together to save some driving time and fuel costs over the course of the workday. This certainly adds up to cost savings throughout the course of each month of Maintenance work by improving the technician’s overall efficiency.
